The
Gulf Coast Writers Association
was founded in 1986. Our purpose is to encourage and inspire local
writers throughout the Gulf Coast regional area. From individuals who
dream of writing their very first story or poem, to experienced
published authors, GCWA attracts members who equally share in the joy of
the written word.
All of our officers are
volunteers from our local community,
and participate out of love and dedication to the craft of writing.
We operate as a
not-for-profit
organization. The funds collected cover our operating and publishing
expenses.
The
Gulf Coast Writers Association
invites you to participate in an interesting, informative, and inspiring
organization. GCWA Membership offers
monthly general meetings
held in the Gulf Coast Mississippi area.
GCWA
publishes
The Magnolia Quarterly,
as well as as a news updates. Our Magazine includes many up-to-date
articles on a variety of writing topics, from creative writing to how to
publish your work. The articles are informative and written by a variety
of professionals in the writing & publishing fields. Updates on our
local events, as well as information on many national and local writing
contests are also included.
One of the most important aspects
of our Magazine is to give our members a forum to have their work
published. Our Editor welcomes original poetry & stories of reasonable
length submitted by our members. Manuscripts received will be
respectfully managed. In addition, many of the works submitted will also
be included in our "Featured Submissions" section of our Web site.
Our Association also sponsors
the nationally recognized
"Let's Write" Literary
Contest
which accepts unpublished poems and short stories from authors all
around the United States. This is an annual event which has been held
for over 20 years.
