WRITING GUIDELINES FOR

THE OXFORD SO AND SO

A Southern literary journal with no advertising.

56 PAGES PER ISSUE - $4.00 PER COPY

     (For Third Anniversary/Christmas Issue - Nov-Dec)

                   DEADLINE: NOV. 1ST, 2008

THE OXFORD SO & SO is a bi-monthly  SOUTHERN   oriented journal of nostalgia, clean humor/satire, poetry, history, jokes, etc.  "SO & SO" is an acronym for "Southern Owned & Southern Operated."  A non-political, non-racist hard copy only.  Now entering our Fourth year!

Like many literary journals (revenue from subscriptions only) "SO & SO" pays in copies:

FICTION/NON-FICTION:  0 to 350 words - ONE copy.  (NOTE: This is a change from before which will allow us to publish MORE writers.)  351 Words on up - TWO copies for the first article in an issue and ONE copy for each additional in the same issue.  Articles should be about 1000 words or less.  This is flexible but shorter articles always have a better chance of being published.

POETRY:  ONE copy for each poem regardless of length.  Rhyming poetry is preferred and, like everything else, it should be Southern flavored or short four-five line witty limericks, etc.

NOSTALGIC HUMOR GOES OVER WELL!

You DO NOT have to be a subscriber to be published.  NOT  an anthology or vanity press.

The best way to really get a grasp of the genre SO & SO publishes is to order a back issue for $4 ppd.  A one year subscription of six issues (with NO advertising) is only $14.00.

SO & SO has now published 145 different writers.  Some of whom had their writing "take off" after being initially published in SO & SO.

The Nov-Dec issue will be both the Third Anniversary Issue and our annual Christmas Issue.

Thank you for your time today and I hope to receive a submission from you for consideration for the upcoming issue.

                                             Best regards,
