Poetry by Geneva Jo Anthony

White pear blossoms fall

the bluebird builds in nest box

straw being gathered.

Brown hawk flies in the field

small birds scatter to the wind

a rabbit scurries.

Rain has been falling all week.

Autumn leaves float away

down miniature rivers.

Speckled light from trees

love bugs flit in windy air

fall is coming soon.

Bushes grow in a field

stray cat sneaks in a barn

rat runs in cow stall.

Small bird sings in field

making sounds like laughter

quiet, as hawk flies over.

Fog rises above mown field

sun begins drying out the grass

birds peck for small seeds.

Winter comes fast

Icy winds blow in door

the rose bush wilts.

Green onions are up

in the garden, the robin patrols

looking for worms.

Moonlight glows on the pond

the bat skims

low to the ground.

Diamond dew drips

the fog covered sun shines

on the rotten log.

Spring is almost here

lazy cattle eating hay

bird pecks among the straw.

Glowing sun sets

a cat is stranded

on the barn's tin roof.

Reflections of light

The sun shines ever so brightly

in little puddles.

Small buds

on the wild rose bush

chickens ignore the flowers.

Feeding hens in barn

a rat scurries away

into the shadows.

Small wave breaks against the sea wall

a stingray is hooked

on the fisherman's line.

Dust rises

on the gravel road, the frog hops

in the ditch's weeds.

Two mockingbirds playing

having a mock battle

the striped cat stalks.
